Torsten, in its leather form, is as stripped back as it gets. Braided entirely from reindeer leather, with no metal in the line, what’s left is just the material, dense, tactile, and direct.
The braid is thick and sculptural, with a presence you can feel right away. At first, the leather holds its shape. Then it begins to relax. Edges soften. The surface deepens with wear.
It takes on whatever you put it through.
It won’t stay pristine, and it isn’t meant to. It becomes more familiar over time. More your own.

Each piece is made by hand in my Washington studio using traditional Sámi techniques and materials imported directly from Sweden.
Materials vary by design and may include reindeer leather, pewter thread, antler, copper, beads, sterling silver, or 14k gold. The pewter thread is an alloy of tin and silver. Small variations are part of the handwork, not flaws.

Your piece is made after your order is placed, and most are ready to ship in about two weeks. Intricate and custom work sometimes needs more time, so during busy seasons, please allow up to 30 days. Shipping time is additional. If you need your piece by a specific date or occasion, contact me before ordering so I can confirm the timing for you.
